• Proteinase k is useful in the isolation of the DNA and RNA.
• Useful in Isolation of high molecular weight nucleic acid.
• Improve cloning efficiency of PCR products.
• Suitable for isolating PCR and RT-PCR templates.
• Proteinase k is useful for general protein digestion, used to digest endogenous DNases and
RNases.
•One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will liberate 1.0 μmol
tyrosine (Folin-positive amino acid) from casein per minute at 37°C, pH 7.5
•Active site: Active-site catalytic triad (Asp39-His69-Ser224)
•Cleavage site: Peptide bonds adjacent to the carboxy group of
aliphatic aromatic amino acids with blocked alpha amino group.
• Specific Activity: ≥30 u/mg
